Persian Language & Cultures Certificate

Details

The certificate in Persian Language & Culture will complement studies that have an academic focus in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia. Dialects of Persian language are official languages in Iran (Farsi), Tajikistan (Tajik), and Afghanistan (Dari).

This certificate is offered through the Center for Global & International Studies’ Middle East Studies Program, with the support of the Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies, and the Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures. The certificate is a 4 course certificate.

Farsi/Persian is considered a critical language by the US government, it is a language and culture that factors heavily into contemporary global politics and discussions, and one that offers relevance across professional fields. This certificate provides undergraduate students with a designation of expertise in Persian language and related cultures.
